Hello Fishermen, The Smith River peaked to over 22' and is now starting to go down. The good news is this will bring the fish in and Steelhead fishing will be fantastic as soon as the river drops. Hello Fishermen, We have been fishing the Smith this past week and are starting to catch some nice Steelhead. Fishing will only get better now that the Steelhead are starting to show up in better numbers. I will be fishing the Smith and Chetco Rivers through March. Starting Dec 27 I will be writing daily fishing reports.

Hello Fisherman , We are waiting for the rain to bring in the big Kings. The smith is closed above Rowdy Creek. The mouth is your best bet for know. The Chetco has been producing some nice fish in the estuary , and some jacks at the water tower hole. If you would like to fish the Smith or Chetco Rivers In Nov. Hello, Fisherman , Its that time of year again, and just like clock work the Salmon are starting to show in the Smith and Chetco estuaries. Brian Gagnons weighed in a 46lb Salmon from the Chetco Bay and some jacks are in the lower tidewater at Morris hole and at tide rock. We will soon be seeing some combo days , when both Steelhead and Salmon are in the boat. All we need is some more rain to bring in a fresh push of fish . Hello Fishermen, Jerry Collins of Grass Valley and Roger Cox of Foresthill fished the Smith River today under blue skies, which we have not seen in quite awhile. Rodger took home a 13 lb hen and released a 9 lb hen. Jerry caught a 11 lb hen and released a 8 lb hen. It looks like the fishing will be great the next week or so. The Chetco is also doing good. Hello Fishermen, Sorry I have not written any reports lately but I have not had access to a computer. We have fished a lot of high water since my last report and have caught steelhead everyday. My largest was 16 pds. I have caught several in the 10,13, and 14 pd range and it looks like we will be fishing several more days on high water. The fishing is GREAT! We are catching all of our fish on the soft water seem, that would be between the fast and frog water. Hope to see you up here soon. Randy

Hello fishermen, The past 3 days on the Smith River we have been averaging 4 to 6 hook-ups. We are still fishing high water but there are lots of fish in the river at this time. We have caught all our fish side drifting with roe and puff balls. Hope to see you on the river. Randy

Hello Fishermen, Today was another good day on the river. John Burton and Mike from Ohio went 6 for 6 on the Smith. Hello Fishermen, I fished the Smith River today with Don Custis from Sacramento Ca. Don hooked 5 Steelhead and kept a beautiful 12 lb Chrome Bright Hen. Hello Fishermen, We fished the Smith River today and had a great day of fishing. We hooked 6 chrome bright Steelhead weighing up to 12 pounds. We are still fishing high water and probably will be for several days, concentrating on the corners and all fishable seams where fast water meets the frog water. Hello Fisherman; The Smith and Chetco rivers are producing some Steelhead and Salmon. This is the transition period from Salmon to Steelhead fishing. By Jan 1st we will have solid Steelhead fishing ,even when the river is low and clear. You just have to known where to put in your fishing time on the river. Hello Fisherman ,we fished the Sixes River and the Elk On Nov. 14th. The Sixes had more color then the Elk. Pulling plugs was the ticket on the Sixes and back bouncing roe produced on the Elk. On the 11th we fished the Smith River. The Salmon were from Ruby to Sarina take out. On the 12th we fished the Chetco from Ice box to Social Security. We had our first hook up at Loeb park and our second hook up at the piling hole. This time of year you will find Salmon throughout the river system on all four rivers. Whitney’s River guide service can fish you on any of these great Salmon and Steelhead producing rivers. We also have some southern Oregon and Northern California guides that are well seasoned and fun to fish with, in the event that are boats are booked on the dates you need. The Chetco River fall-run Chinook are in the system now and with some clearing should fish great. Floyd Aldrich caught a 40-pound Chinook on Sunday and Erich Chambers landed a 40-pound plus Chinook on Monday.Remember when the river is high and muddy in color fish the edges only.This goes for Steelhead and Salmon. Get ready for some great fishing after both rivers start dropping. The Smith will come into shape first, then the Chetco. Remember to check river stages before heading out. Hello fisherman, The salmon are in good numbers at the sand banks on the Smith River. They will move up river very fast with the first good rains.The upper river is closed due to low water. That will change soon.

The Smith River received some rain ,and as I expected the mouth of the river is producing some Salmon. We will wait for more rain and then start fishing full day Drift Boat trips further up river. Book your trip now for a later date around Oct 15 and you will have plenty of action given the fact that we should have more rain by then. Watch the weather its your key to good Salmon and Steelhead fishing. Rain rain rain to start most Salmon and Steelhead river runs. FISH WILL TRICKLE IN - DON'T BE FOOLED BY NO RAIN. Brookings Oregon Well the SLAM'N SALMON DERBY is over and a 42.2 pound chinook took first place. Dan Ambrose was the winner. The fish was taken about 2-1/2 miles out of whistler buoy. I Fished the mouth of the Smith on Sept 2. Had one fish on only, the fish are not in yet. Need some rain. Try the sand banks or the bailey Hole with the first rain
